Does the Pacific side or Caribbean side of Costa Rica have better beaches for swimming?

Answer:
This is a tough one, because both sides are so huge and offer so many beautiful beaches. If I were to pick one area for a beach vacation though, it would probably be the Nicoya Peninsula. Two beautiful beaches that are on the Nicoya are Playa Conchal and Playa Carrillo. While both beaches are great for swimming and beautiful, they were also awarded Ecological Blue Flags (Bandera Azul Ecologica) by the Costa Rica Institute of Tourism for water and environmental quality, which can add to your peace of mind while swimming there.

Playa Conchal is around 25min north of Tamarindo. Playa Carrillo is just south of Playa Samara, and about 20min south of Nosara.
