As an alternative to hotels, Costa Rica vacation rentals offer a more private and homey feeling. Whether you want something close to town, or away from it all, there are numerous options across the country. From the beach resort areas around Tamarindo, to the misty highlands of Monteverde, a rental lets you feel like a native.
Costa Rica vacation rentals are a great way to experience living in Costa Rica if you had ever considered it but weren’t sure. Based on my personal experience, I’d recommend at least six-months, or better yet a year if you can spare the time. It’s the only way to really understand what you’re getting into before selling your house and making things permanent.
Besides, Costa Rica rentals are an economical choice if you plan to stay more than a week. Basic one-bedroom condos can sometimes be found in beach towns for $600 and up per month, based obviously on amenities, size, and location. Luxury rentals and ones in the heart of Tamarindo or Jaco cost more. Regardless, imagine spending $1,000 for one month at a Costa Rica rental instead of just one week at a hotel.
Where to find Costa Rica Vacation Rentals
If you’ve decided that you’d like to look into Costa Rica rentals, you need to know where to begin. In my opinion, your best sources for Costa Rica rentals on the Internet are Craigslist for Costa Rica (just look under housing) and the Tico Times, a Costa Rica newspaper in that is in English and geared towards expatriates. See my list of other Costa Rica newspapers that may have additional listings if you can’t find something in the Tico Times or on Craigslist.
