Golf in Costa RicaYour Guide to Golfing in Costa RicaGolf in Costa Rica is a relatively new phenomenon. The first golf course was created in 1944 as a part of the Costa Rican Country Club on the outskirts of San Jose. For 25 years this 9-hole course remained the country's soul golf venue. (Scroll down to list of Costa Rica golf courses.)
This Costa Rica golf course was built on an old coffee plantation and measures 6,577 yards. The fairways are lush and tree-lined, demanding accuracy rather than length off the tee and providing a challenge to any golfer. Another couple of decades passed before golf in Costa Rica started to boom. In the 1990s developers began seeing golf as an excellent draw for tourism and during this time a number of new golf courses were constructed. Now golfers coming to Costa Rica for a golf vacation can play on courses designed by George Fazio, Robert Trent Jones II, Ron Garl, Arnold Palmer, Tracy May, Ted Robinson Jr., and Mike Young. Below you'll find a complete list of venues for golf in Costa Rica. Costa Rica Golf CoursesAs of writing, the following is a list of all the Costa Rica golf courses I could find. Some of the courses require you to be a guest of the golf resort or a member of the club. For more specific information on each course, click the linked header above.
