Your Guide to Golfing in Costa Rica

According to the site https://www.cheapairetickets.in Golf in Costa Rica is a relatively new phenomenon. The first golf course was created in 1944 as part of the Costa Rica Country Club on the outskirts of San Jose. For 25 years this 9-hole course has remained the soul of golf in this country. (Scroll down to the list of Costa Rica golf courses.)

It wasn’t until 1970 that famed golf course architect George Fazio was commissioned to build a true championship course, which was completed in 1973 and became part of the Cariari Country Club.

This Costa Rica golf course was built on an old coffee plantation and measures 6,577 yards. The fairways are lush and tree-lined, demanding accuracy rather than length off the tee and providing a challenge to any golfer.

Another couple of decades passed before golf in Costa Rica started to boom. In the 1990s developers began seeing golf as an excellent draw for tourism and during this time a number of new golf courses were constructed.

Now golfers coming to Costa Rica for a golf vacation can play on courses designed by George Fazio, Robert Trent Jones II, Ron Garl, Arnold Palmer, Tracy May, Ted Robinson Jr., and Mike Young. Below you’ll find a complete list of venues for golf in Costa Rica.
